IS TITHING & GIVING TO THE CHURCH OF CHRIST REASONABLE?

The Book of Habakkuk reveals that the Believer must line by faith- from beginning to the ending of the pilgrimage; we are expected to live and operate by His faith. 

We may not see  the logic behind His commands but we must learn to obey because we know He is the all- wise God and have our best interest in mind.

You cannot survive and live successfully as a Christian when you practise selective obedience, every believer must  be complete in their obedience. to receive eternal reward.

 

If you advocate that the believers should not pay tithe and give their offering, then where do you expect the Church to get its funding to maintain its various establishments. Adherent of other religions give heavy financial support to their religious establishment, the only difference is that they don't call it "TITHING'. But they certainly give donations. ( I know of a certain Church  of Science who expects donations running to millions of dollars from members and members who cannot give donations work for almost free and have devoted their lives with signed documents for years to the service of the Church) This is not a  Pentecostal Church yet they collect money from members. I could go on about other religions.

I am a believer and l am proud to remain a disciple of Christ all my life. I started with Christ as girl, then backslide and went into the world. The difference was clear to me- serving sin and serving Christ. I will chose Christ all over again by the help of the Holy Spirit because the God of our Lord Jesus is good, kind and his commandments are not grievous.  

When l was around age seven-eight, l practised the other major religion in Nigeria briefly because l was living with an aunty who was married to an adherent. .After this experience of eating slaughtered goats at festive period after fasting, l can boldly say " Jesus is truly the Way, the Truth and The Light.

Therefore any commandments of God either in the Old or New Testament,  can be trusted and must be obeyed.

Truly, the command to pay tithe came from the Old TESTAMENT  but there is no place  in the New Testament where Christ abolished the practise of paying tithes to His CHURCH. The New Testament Church (especially the earlier believers) did not just practise the 10 percent giving, rather they gave all. 

"that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need. Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas (which means “son of encouragement”), sold a field he owned and brought the money and put it at the apostles’ feet". Acts 4:34-36.

Truly, some Churches misappropriate it's fund and spend it lavishly but it s wrong  to believe and accuse every pastor and Church of been thieves. For the Pastors in my Church are certainly not in that category.
