SOLOMON FAILED THE TEST OF POWER

KING SOLOMON FAILED THE TEST
OF FINANCIAL POWER

There were Kings but this King outshined them all in wealth, wisdom and greatness in the sight of men during his life time.

Our  LORD Jesus Christ spoke about him as a King with great Splendour.  Queen of Sheba visited and had this to say about the wise king
" You have far exceeded the report l heard about you... 1 Kings 10:7-9

He started enjoying these privileges as a result of the covenant God entered with his father king David.

But Solomon had a part to play to secure  all these blessings. King Solomon offered  a thousand burnt offerings to God  and the Lord was  pleased with this selfless act that He  appeared to Solomon during the night in a dream, and God said, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you.” That was an open cheque to a recipient to fill the amount  he/she wanted.

Again, King Solomon who some how had learned God's love language asked for a discerning heart to govern God's people and this again pleased God who gave him wisdom and honour so that no King would be his equal in His life time.

This begun Solomon's journey to stupedous wealth, world fame and influence.

Solomon built a  beautiful magnificent Temple lined with gold and other precious stones  for Jehovah Elyown and offered 22,000 cattles, 120,000 sheep's and goats.

Wow, Yahweh was pleased and impressed and as this to say about this extravagant display of love  from King Solomon and the people

The Lord said to him:....... “I have consecrated this temple, which you have built, by putting my Name there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there. 1 Kings 9:3

Uuuh, when the heart of the Almighty  is in  a place, the unimaginable happens. King Solomon wealth exploded.

The weight of the gold that Solomon received yearly was 666 talents, (25 tons)  not including the revenues from merchants and traders and from all the Arabian kings and the governors of the territories.

King Solomon was greater in riches and wisdom than all the other kings of the earth.

The whole world sought audience with Solomon to hear the wisdom God had put in his heart.

Year after year, everyone who came brought a gift —articles of silver and gold, robes, weapons and spices, and horses and mules.

But King Solomon however loved many foreign women; they were from nations the LORD had told the Israelites  ' You must not intermarry;

King Solomon followed  Ashtoreth, the goddess of the Sidonians, on the hill of JERUSALEM, Solomon built a a high place for Chemosh, molek all foreign gods.

The same King who built a permanent dwelling place for God in JERUSALEM as turned to built altars and high places for other idols and worshipped these idols with his wives.

WHY?
As Solomon grew old his heart went after other gods and he used the wealth and wisdom that God gave him to build temples for these forbidden gods.

King Solomon failed the TEST of financial power and his heart was not fully devoted to the LORD, his God who taught his hand to profit and gave him peace.

Solomon reign end with God withdrawing the peace in his reign by stirring up opposition and rival against him

May our hearts remain fully committed to God and not mammon and power in Jesus name.
